Australian psych-folk band Trappist Afterland is back with their highly anticipated 10th album, “Evergreen – Walk to Paradise Garden”, set to be released on November 22, 2024. The band, known for their unique sound that blends traditional folk with psychedelic elements, has already caught the attention of music critics with their previous releases.

With this new album, they continue to push boundaries and explore new musical territories. The album features a stellar lineup of talented musicians, including UK guitar maestro Henry Parker, trad folk singer Angeline Morrison, multi-instrumentalist and producer Tali Trow, and visionary artist, poet, and singer David Tibet of CURRENT 93. Adding to the mix are Cole’s long-time collaborators and brothers Anthony Cornish, Tom Warren, and Matt Malone. “Evergreen – Walk to Paradise Garden” was written during the winter rains in the hills above Adelaide Plains in South Australia. Cole dedicated this album to his mother, who was battling dementia, and made monthly trips to Kiama, his hometown on the New South Wales South Coast. These trips, along with the breakdown of his marriage and eventual return to his hometown, served as inspiration for the album’s poignant and heartfelt songs. The album is a reflection of Cole’s appreciation for the present moment and the bonds formed over a lifetime. It reminds listeners to cherish every moment with loved ones, even if they are fleeting. The album also touches on themes of growth, separation, healing from trauma, and finding joy in the darkest of times.

“Evergreen – Walk to Paradise Garden” is an intimate and deeply personal album that celebrates life’s journey. It is a testament to finding beauty even in the most trying of times, and embracing new beginnings with open arms. Fans of Trappist Afterland can expect to be taken on a sonic journey filled with haunting melodies and thought-provoking lyrics. The album will be exclusively available on the band’s Bandcamp page on November 22, 2024. It is a must-listen for anyone who appreciates masterful songwriting, unique musical arrangements, and a touch of the otherworldly. Trappist Afterland continues to solidify their place as one of the most exciting and innovative bands in the Australian music scene.
